Key Destinations:

1. Ngorongoro Crater: Known as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders, Ngorongoro Crater is a geological masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It boasts a unique ecosystem that supports an estimated 25,000 large mammals, including black rhinos, lions, elephants, and buffalo. The crater floor’s lush grasslands and its freshwater lakes make it an ideal habitat for wildlife.

According to the Tanzania National Parks Authority, Ngorongoro hosts some of the highest densities of lions in the world, with about 62 individuals recorded per 100 square kilometers.

2. Tarangire National Park: Famous for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds, Tarangire National Park offers a completely different safari experience. The park’s landscape is punctuated by rivers and swamps, making it an attractive destination for animals, especially during the dry season when migratory species seek water sources. Home to over 550 bird species, it’s also a bird-watcher's paradise.

In 2020, Tarangire was ranked as the park with the second-highest concentration of wildlife per square kilometer in Tanzania.

3. Lake Manyara National Park: Situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is a microcosm of Tanzania's ecosystems. From groundwater forests to its famous shallow alkaline lake, this park is famed for its flamingos, which seasonally paint the lake pink. Lake Manyara is also known for its elusive tree-climbing lions, an unusual phenomenon that few other parks around the world can boast.

Full Detailed Schedule of the 1-Day Tanzania Sharing Safari Tour

6:00 AM - Early Morning Pickup from Arusha

The day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Our experienced driver-guide will ensure a smooth departure in a well-maintained, 4x4 safari vehicle, equipped with pop-up roofs for better wildlife viewing. As you depart, your guide will provide you with a briefing on the day’s itinerary, what to expect, and some background on the park you'll visit.

Option 1: Ngorongoro Crater Sharing Safari Tour

9:00 AM - Arrival at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The drive to Ngorongoro Crater, approximately 180 km west of Arusha, takes around 3 hours. As you approach the crater, your guide will share fascinating information about its volcanic origins—formed 2 to 3 million years ago—and how this caldera sustains such abundant wildlife today. The crater, 19 km in diameter, is one of the few places in Africa where all Big Five species can be seen in a single day.

9:30 AM - Game Drive Inside the Crater
Once you descend into the crater, the real adventure begins. The crater floor is an ecosystem unto itself, teeming with wildlife. Expect to see large herds of wildebeests, zebras, and buffaloes grazing. The predators are never far off, with lions, cheetahs, and hyenas often seen in action. Ngorongoro is one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino, with only about 30 remaining in the crater. Additionally, the freshwater streams and lakes in the crater attract thousands of flamingos, creating a mesmerizing visual contrast.

12:30 PM - Picnic Lunch by the Hippo Pool
A picturesque picnic site awaits you by a hippo pool, where you can enjoy a packed lunch while observing hippos basking in the water.

1:30 PM - Final Game Drive and Crater Ascent
After lunch, enjoy a final drive across the crater floor before ascending the steep crater walls to return to Arusha.

5:00 PM - Return to Arusha
By late afternoon, you’ll be back in Arusha, where your 1-day Tanzania sharing safari tour will conclude.

Option 2: Tarangire National Park Sharing Safari Tour

8:00 AM - Arrival at Tarangire National Park
After a two-hour drive from Arusha, you’ll arrive at the gate of Tarangire National Park. Covering an area of around 2,850 square kilometers, Tarangire’s rolling savannah and baobab-studded landscapes make it a picturesque and wildlife-rich destination. This park is famous for its enormous herds of elephants, often seen moving together in groups of up to 100 individuals.

8:30 AM - Morning Game Drive
Your guide will navigate through the park, highlighting areas where elephants, zebras, giraffes, and even elusive predators like leopards tend to gather. Tarangire’s landscape is diverse, with the Tarangire River acting as the lifeblood for many animals, especially during the dry season. You may also spot large pythons hanging from trees, a rare sight unique to this area.

12:00 PM - Lunch Break
A serene picnic site within the park will serve as your lunch stop. Keep an eye out for playful vervet monkeys and brightly colored birds trying to grab a snack!

1:00 PM - Afternoon Game Drive
Your afternoon drive will take you deeper into the park, giving you a chance to see lesser-known but equally fascinating animals such as dik-dik and fringe-eared oryx. The birdlife here is phenomenal, with species like the Kori bustard and yellow-collared lovebird making frequent appearances.

5:00 PM - Return to Arusha
After an incredible day of game viewing, you'll head back to Arusha.

Option 3: Lake Manyara National Park Sharing Safari Tour

8:00 AM - Arrival at Lake Manyara National Park
After a scenic 1.5-hour drive, you’ll arrive at Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is one of Tanzania’s smaller parks but offers some of the most varied landscapes, from dense evergreen forests to open grasslands and the large alkaline lake.

8:30 AM - Game Drive
The park is home to various species, including giraffes, zebras, hippos, and baboons. But one of the park’s main attractions is its population of tree-climbing lions. As your guide explains, these lions are particularly adapted to climbing trees, a rare behavior that protects them from flies and keeps them cool during the day.

12:00 PM - Lunch at a Scenic Spot
You’ll stop for a picnic lunch in a picturesque setting overlooking the lake, often dotted with pink flamingos and pelicans. With the Rift Valley in the background, it’s the perfect spot for memorable photographs.

1:00 PM - Final Game Drive
After lunch, you’ll continue to explore the park, focusing on the marshy areas and forests where elephants and buffaloes often roam. Before you know it, it’ll be time to head back to Arusha.

5:00 PM - Return to Arusha
Return to Arusha in time for an evening of relaxation after your wildlife adventure.
